Cutting a real cup into a lawn starts with pulling a neat plug of dirt instead of tearing up the turf. We built this cutter from blackened carbon steel with depth marks right on the barrel. You push it into the ground, twist, lift the core out, and drop the cup straight in.

Treated carbon steel cylinderThe cutting cylinder is heat-treated carbon steel with a sharpened lower rim. It slices down through grass roots and compacted yard soil without buckling when you push down with both hands on the wooden crossbar.

Detachable wooden handleThe cross handle is solid wood and unscrews from the metal shaft. That lets the whole tool pack down flat on a garage shelf between hole changes instead of standing awkwardly in the corner.

Soil ejector plateA circular steel plate sits inside the cylinder. Once you pull the plug of turf and dirt out of the ground, press the rod down to push the intact plug straight out of the barrel.

Molded ABS cup floorThe included putting cup is molded ABS plastic. The floor has three drainage holes to let rain seep away into the soil underneath, with a center socket molded to seat a standard flagstick base.
