Cutting a cup hole with a spade leaves a ragged rim and loose dirt at the bottom. We built this barrel to slice through turf roots in one turn, pulling out a solid cylinder of soil so the cup fits snug against undisturbed grass.

Carbon steel cylinderThe round edge cuts through thick root mats without tearing the surrounding grass. You step down, twist the t-handle, and get a clean vertical wall instead of an uneven scoop.
Detachable t-handleThe upper crossbar unthreads from the main tube. That lets the whole tool lie flat on a garage shelf or ride in a trunk without snagging on other yard gear.
Etched depth linesMarks along the outside of the barrel show how far the blade has sunk into the ground. You stop pressing when the cut matches the height of our standard cups.
Internal dirt plungerThe soil chamber pulls the plug out of the ground in one piece. Push down on the center rod to slide the root core out onto the grass or into a bucket.
