A short pin sits close to your eyes when you line up a putt, so single-sided fabric looks backwards half the time. We sew two layers together with the print outward on each face. The flag slides over a narrow yard stick and spins freely on its plastic sleeve.
Two layers of nylonSingle-layer flags show a mirror image on the back. We stitch two separate pieces back to back so the stars and stripes face correctly from both sides of the green.
Stitched outer edgeWind works on the free corner of a flag first. Two rows of stitching run along the perimeter so the raw nylon edge stays enclosed through months out in the breeze.
Hard plastic sleeveAn ABS tube is stitched directly into the hoist side. It slides down over the top of a yard rod and turns on the pin when the wind shifts direction across the lawn.
Scale for short pinsA full-size pin flag overwhelms a short practice stick. This cut fits the scale of a backyard putting setup, staying clear of the grass when the rod sits in the cup.
