A yard pin sits close enough that you see every loose thread while lining up a putt. We sew this small flag from a thicker polyester weave than our regular nylon rectangles. It slides straight down over the top of the pole and stays put when the wind catches it.
Heavy woven clothWe cut this piece from a denser polyester fabric so the stripes hold their shape in the yard. The weave has enough body to flap clearly without bunching against the pole.
Double edge stitchingA yard flag catches wind all afternoon from the same side of the house. We run two rows of thread along the outer perimeter to keep the raw edges from fraying open.
Hard insert tubeThe flag is stitched to a rigid plastic core that slips right onto a narrow yard pin. It spins freely around the top section so you can check the wind from the patio.
Scale for short pinsWe proportioned the stars and stripes to sit on a low practice rod. The flag reads clean from your normal stance without hanging down into the grass or dragging across the cup.
