You push the small button on each joint, slide the painted iron tubes together, and set the base into the cup. The flag stays pinned with a number one, which helps if your lawn has several targets and you want to know which one you are putting toward. Break it down when the grass needs cutting.

Spring buttons in the jointEach metal section slides into the next until the small spring button pops out through the hole. The tubes stay tight while you putt, but you can take them apart by pressing the button with your thumb.

Painted iron sectionsWe painted the iron tubes with broad bands of red and white. The weight gives the pin some heft in the cup, so a hard stroke that hits the metal rattles instead of knocking the stick sideways.

Bright red flagThe red nylon flag carries the number one printed in white across the center. It catches the breeze over the grass, so you can pick out your first target from across the yard.

Cup with floor drainsThe molded ABS cup sits flush in your turf. Three holes cut into the bottom plate let rain water run through into the dirt below, rather than holding a puddle around the bottom of the pole.
