A backyard round stretches past sunset once the porch light comes on. We shaped this light with an open side so you slide it straight into the cup without pulling the flagstick out of the turf. It sits below the lip, running on small dry cells and lighting the bottom of the hole.

Open ring frameThe open side lets you drop the unit around an upright pin. You slide the ring down the throat of the cup instead of lifting the pole, setting the light, and trying to guide the ferrule back through the middle.

Shaded lens coverThe optical lens softens the glare coming off the diode board. The light stays down inside the plastic cup where the ball drops, pointing upward without throwing a blinding beam across the grass as you stand over your putter.

Dry cell powerEach ring runs on three standard dry batteries tucked inside the body. When a late round finishes after midnight, you lift the unit out by hand, click the switch, and store it in the shed until the next evening session.

Selectable glow modesA switch on the casing cycles through solid colors and a slow breathing pulse. You pick the shade that stands out against your grass, or set a different hue on each target across the lawn to tell your lines apart.
